What Independence Day Means to a Nigerian Creative. It’s the first day of October and Independence Day is here again. We share with you this article on Nigerian Independence Day Creatives 2022.
We should ideally be filled with joy. On this day, 62 years ago, we did achieve our freedom from British colonial domination.
However, because we are aware of Nigeria’s abundance of untapped potential, our Independence Day has gradually evolved into a day that serves as a reminder of all that is wrong with the nation and the lengths to which we as artists (creatives) must go in order to live.
We groan and, if we’re fortunate enough to have gasoline, start our generators when “NEPA” does its thing and the lights go off. Otherwise, since clients won’t hear “No light,” we’ll just have to swallow our ego and beg those with generators to let us charge our devices.
